iSerrapeptase FAQ's

Question: I would like some serrapeptase info. I have been on another brand of serrapeptase. I went to order your brand and the mg are different. I have been taking 2000 mcg tablets twice a day and yours is mesured in mgs. I don't know how to convert it. Isn't there 1000 mcgs in one mg?
Answer:
Yes, that is right,1000 mcg equals one mg. Our serrapeptase product is made by Marlyn Neutraceuticals in Arizona, one of the few facilities approved by the FDA for making enzymes.

Question: Can I take serrapeptase enzyme and nattokinase enzyme the same day?
Answer: We have not seen any studies combining the two enzymes, and to be on the safe side we suggest not taking them together unless your doctor is familiar with both and approves.

Question: My doctor has suggested serrapeptase enzyme for me. One concern I have is that I have a lap band. I know they are enteric coated because it is important for the serrapeptase to be intact as it passes through the stomach to the intestines. I will be having my lap-band unfilled, which will allow a pill about the size of a pencil eraser to get through undamaged. Can you tell me the approximate size and shape of the serrapeptase pill?
Answer: This serrapeptase tablet is one centimeter in diameter and 0.4 cm thick at the widest central area. A LAP-BAND System is an adjustable gastric band designed for weight loss.

Question: Can a serrapeptase supplement be taken along with other systemic enzymes such as those found in Wobenzym?
Answer: Since human studies are lacking regarding the combination of serrapeptase in conjucntion with other systemic enzymes, we suggest not using them together until studies are completed.

Question: How long can serrapetase enzyme be safely taken when used daily?
Answer: We don't have an answer to this question. Much depends on your medical condition and the reason the serrapeptase is being used. We recommend medical approval regarding the use of serrapeptase, particularly if you plan to take it for many weeks or months.

Question: How is serrapeptase manufactured? Do they kill silkworms to do it? I have several friends who are interested in a serrapeptase product but they are all vegetarians.
Answer: Serrapeptase is made by specific bacteria found in the gut of silkworms and these bacteria "digest" their cocoons. That is the extent of our knowledge, the exact steps are not revealed to us by the manufacturer.

Question: I am in regular receipt of your Newsletter, which is absolutely fabulous. I have a query. I am taking a serrepeptase product from another company, and when my supply finishes would like to change to your serrepeptase product but am confused on dosages.I have been taking two tablets twice daily - 20,000 units (10mg) serratia peptidase, as recommended on the bottle. However, I noted that your dosage is 20,000 units but equivalent to 200mg and dosage is one per day - can you please clarify for me - is one of your tablets actually 20 times stronger?
Answer: This is a good question. We have our products made at Marlyn Nutraceuticals in Arizona, an FDA approved facility and they are experts in enzyme manufacturing. We follow their quantifying methods on quantifying the dosage and strength of the serrapeptase enzyme supplements. We can't speak for other companies and how they make or quantify their enzyme products so we don't know how to compare ours to theirs. Dr. Sahelian is quite cautious in his approach with these enzymes and he prefers people take less in order to minimize any potential serrapeptase side effects.
